Dr. Fadi AlMahamid is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University, where he earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. His research develops deep reinforcement learning methods for autonomous drones, with a focus on navigation in complex environments and on resilience when onboard sensors degrade or fail.
He teaches machine learning, reinforcement learning, computer networks and software systems. Before Western, he taught in Amman, Najran and Abu Dhabi, then moved to industry in Dubai, where he worked as a senior consultant, solution architect and team lead on large enterprise projects across the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, including enterprise content management for Xerox.
That industry experience still shapes many of the examples he brings to class.
